knock, knock...


i love the decorative feature of door knockers on an entrance door, they have the ability to set the mood before you even step foot in the house. knockers made during the medieval and renaissance periods are probably the most elaborate and ornamental, but still practical, and are typically divided into three types; the ring, the hammer, and the human/animal heads. while you can buy brand new ones today, the antique ones are still probably my favorite, and worth the hunt to find the perfect one. when i have my own house i think i'll opt for a door knocker over a door bell for sure. when traveling through scandinavia and the baltics a few summers ago i saw this pair of knockers (geez that sounds wrong) in estonia, i'd have them reproduced if i could...
