off to a good start...

i love this idea of a daily journal from design sponge, writing something you did each day that was rewarding. 'the first year is the least rewarding, but imagine that in 10 years, it will be a daily treat to be reminded of what happened on that date over the last decade'.

these would be great, easy DIY gifts for friends as a new years present. maybe i'll start collecting some cool postcards while i'm in paris, ooh-la-la!...

the art of displaying...

just a warning, i'm going to be jumping from halloween, to christmas, and then back to thanksgiving a lot...get used to it.

i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE getting christmas cards in the mail as much as i love sending them out. i usually just tape them up around the casing of my entryway. but i think i might try out this christmas card garland this year...

happy halloween...

i attended an annual halloween party in southie last night, and it was soooo much fun. i seriously used to hate dressing up for halloween, but everyone at this party gets so into it and there were some really great costumes last night. here are me and my friend in the costumes i made...

and here are a few of our book group gals...

vermont + fall + wedding= bliss

as if i needed another reason to love vermont in the fall, i saw amandas gorgeous photos of this couple's october wedding wedding, from the picture perfect location, to the plaid blankets and gorgeous centerpieces. every little details screams 'falling' in love (so dorky of me, i know). uh yeah, and bridesmaids who wear cowgirl boots, doubtful that and fell in love even deeper. to me, this is the ideal fall vermonti'll ever get my bridesmaids to do any such thing (unless i become a bridezilla)...

playing in my head...

But hold on to what you believe in the light
When the darkness has robbed you of all your sight
...

to infinity and beyond...

i want/lust/need one of these metal and leather infinity bracelets from mesa blue...

getting ahead of the season...

nothing irritates me more than hearing holiday carols BEFORE thanksgiving has even arrived. so you might find this post on holiday wrapping mildly annoying. but i'm a planner, that's what i do. hell, i already have my holiday cards printed, labeled, stamped and ready to go out in the mail december 1st! plus, i don't like to feel rushed or like i'm battling crowds for holiday crap, i'd rather collect it slowly and be prepared when the time comes. i've started gathering unique wrapping ideas for christmas gifts, something a little more thoughtful than the roll of $2.99 generic wrapping paper...

oh, and how awesome are these gift tags?...

secret tunnels...

aside from wishing that there were underground tunnels in the city during the winter to avoid the cold, i wish there was a secret underground tunnel to some of my girlfriends...don't you?

knee socks in all their glory...

i for real want a pair of these amazing knee socks from Lowie...i totally think knee socks never should have gone out of style. my grandma ALWAYS wore knee socks, she still does til this day in the alzheimer's facility she's living in thanks to my mom's obsession with buying them for her!

finding some me time...

i'm not going to lie, i haven't been to a yoga class in a couple of months...because let's face it, i'm lazy and i'd rather spend my money on other things. however, that's not to say that i haven't been doing some yoga at home. i am a super anxious person, so much so that i have a very difficult time calming down and sleeping through the night even. other than a repetition of sun salutations (which I do about 5-8 of every day) i found these 10 poses which have helped me a lot. i highly recommend them and the breathing that goes along with them...best part is they're free and don't take up much time! also, it's really important to find at least 30 minutes of 'quiet time' for yourself each day...
