wishing i was a teenager...

rachel haverson, the interior designer behind nest egg, has made me wish i was a teenager again with her incredible bedroom makeover for this teen. hell, who am i kidding, i'm 30 years old and i'd still like to have this room at my age. the angel wing headboard is GENIUS in my humble opinion...

rain, rain go away...

image from our photo shoot with fat orange cat studio, it's my favorite one!

please sun, come back out soon so i can take the girls across the bridge to the river for a play date. we are all getting restless staying inside day & night! we do not like the rain (but i'll admit it's better than snow!).

graphic rugs...

before i start this post i have to admit, i must check out, on a daily basis, over 200 blogs (thanks to google reader). every day i find new inspiration via other bloggers...so thank you blogland!

shelter, an interior design firm near me (north of boston), is one of my favorites and she featured pillows from the outer banks trading group today, which i promptly checked out for myself. you can see how reading blogs can snowball into hours of procrastination. from their website i was happy to come across these organic canvas floor cloths from jenny lee-katz. they'd be perfect for a childs room; so colorful, so graphic, and she makes pillows to match...

why don't i have one of these?...

i'm sure this is old news, but i saw this bumper sticker on a car over the weekend and wondered why i didn't have one of these already...

surfs up dude...

i am not a surfer, i tried it once and failed miserably. but i do love to wear my bathing suit, lie out in the sun until it goes down, all the while working on my tan & bleaching my blonde hair. i'm also drawn to the inherent relaxed lifestyle of a surfer; the way a surfer talks (i use the words bro and stoked in almost every conversation i have), the warm climate a surfer typically seeks, and the homes of surfers (i'd kill to have a house at the beach)...especially that of the trobbe family in santa cruz. their family home was featured in the april 2010 issue of coastal living...think they'll let me move in with them? or at least crash on their couch for a while? everything about this place feels unforced, unrestrained, but incredibly sophisticated and all in a casual sort of way. makes you want to kick off your shoes and stay a while...

any master bedroom that has an over sized portrait of their family dog chillin' on a surfboard is definitely ok in my book. and i'm loving the seagrass headboard & the large floral print curtains & pillows, it's all working so lovely together, it just ooozes simple, nonchalant elegance...

how fun is a room full of built-in bunk beds too?..

cabin fever...

it's been raining straight for two solid days, which in a dogs life feels like forever. the girls have cabin fever and have been wrestling at work all morning...

today is definitely a soup day...

thank you erin vale for this recipe you posted on your blog today, it's going to be dinner tonight considering it's been raining all day and i've had a chill in my bone since my cold shower this morning...

minestrone soup

and then i'm gonna have some of this. the boyfriend brought it home from the grocery store last night and it was amazing. i think i might have sleep-walked into the kitchen in the middle of the night to have some more of it...

playing in my head (on repeat)...

i am a long time pearl jam fan, actually, it's just eddie vedder that i'm completely infatuated with, same difference. their 1991 debut album, ten, was one of the first albums i bought as a youngster and listened to it pretty much on repeat in my room..and never get sick of it, not even now. and they've done it again with their ninth album, backspacer. so now, on repeat, on my ipod is just breath, the most beautiful song to come out of eddies mouth...

lighten up...

next on my wish list, a gourd lamp...possibly one of these...

playing in my head...

the night we went to the middlesex lounge to see our friends band play the opening act sang a version of this song, and i can't get it out of my head. i'm loving the line 'she's a good hearted woman loving a good timin' man'...

in lust with illustrations...

ok, i've already established that i do not have children of my own (not counting my fur-babies), but i am wild about all things having to do with children, and at the moment that includes charley harper's illustrations. i really, really, really want this book and this coloring book of his for my collection. how amazing are these graphic works of his, i am smitten...

his work is very similar to illustrator mignon khargie...

can't stop watching...

parenthood, on nbc, has quickly become my new favorite tv show. i love this family & their dysfunctional lives, that don't really seem so dysfunctional at all really...makes me want a large, crazy family of my own. oh, and i love how they have family dinners once a week!
