westport house tour...

i'm spending this lovely fall weekend down at my parents house in westport, house/dogsitting while they're out of town. i can't describe to you just how insanely beautiful it is here and what a wonderful job my mom did decorating the house , not without the help of the fabulous diane cramphin of oblio design inc. (oh, and my company did the renovations of it, shameless plug)...so i thought i'd take you on a virtual tour. she's not completely done decorating (still needs some window treatments) and i'm not showing you all the rooms, but i think you'll get the gist. mom & designer were inspired by swedish design, you'll notice from her color pallet and the furniture. oh, and ps, those flowers above are from my mom's garden, stunning right?

so as you pull in down the long, private pea stone driveway...

...it's hard not to start the tour by walking around the house...past the outdoor shower, the vegetable garden and to the back terrace...

...where you're hit with this morning view of the river...

and then around to the other side onto the sunny side porch...

now let's go on in the front entrance...

foyer & living room...

which leads into the study (which needs a little more decorating work)...

...which opens up to the sleeping porch, my all time favorite room with 180 degree views of the river. mom also bought a couple of lemon & mandarin orange trees for this room that are just starting out...

i am so looking forward to holiday dinners in this dining room...my stepdad is the cook in the family, but mom is the hostess with the mostess...

even the small half bath is high on style, the tile work is spectacular...

but this is where the family spends most of our time, the kitchen & family room. i'm jealous of the over sized island and the amazing stone sink. i still wish they would put some damn couches in the family room, but those 4 chairs are much more conducive to conversation and are actually pretty comfortable...

the dogs happen to spend a lot of time in this room, the mudroom, especially after their little swims in the river...

guest bath, that feels like a spa...

and the master bedroom, closet & bathroom...no wonder they like spending so much time down here, wouldn't you if you were waking up in a setting like this?...

now, brace yourself...i think i've mentioned before that my mom is an avid seamstress...well, this is her little workshop/sweatshop. she locks herself up there and creates away. i mean seriously though, even if you're not a sewer, how cool is this room? so it's a little messy, but that's not because of the room and it's incredible storage options...mom just happens to be a bit sloppy when she's working...

ok, i have to let the dogs out...what a luxury it is to just let them out the back door rather than having to take them for a walk on leashes...which is hard when there's 4 of them and 1 of me! hoe you're having a wonderful weekend too...i'll tell you about my field trip to new bedford a little later.
