book review...

the boyfriend got me a few books off my wish list for christmas, one of them being the art of racing in the rain by garth stein, which i read in 2 days flat and LOVED. Aside from the fact that the dog on the cover of the book looks eerily similar to penny, it was an incredible story of love & loyalty, as told from the point of view of a dog. this is a book that any passionate dog owner should read. the beginning of the book starts with the dog talking about a documentary he saw about a place in Mongolia, based on the 1998 film state of dogs, the Mongolian belief that dogs are reincarnated as humans. and for anyone who has ever lost a best friend the end of the book will pull at your heart strings. i think garth should have added to the end of his book a favorite saying of mine, "they say that the one best place to bury a good dog is in the heart of his master."

after reading books i like to go online and see what other people thought of them. and when i googled it i found the authors interview on the book. it was fascinating to hear how he conceived the idea for the book...

  1. So funny that you read this book. On the way back from Farrel's wedding, I had saw it in the Chicago airport, read the back and bought it at the end of September. It's probably my favorite book.
