fate...

can i just talk about a very special someone for one second?

when i was in college i had the biggest crush on this boy (see fraternity photo below). he was kind of a big deal; best hockey player hobart had seen in ages, beautiful blue eyes, a contagious smile and AMAZING 'hockey hair' (i'm a sucker for guys with nice long locks)...
...but he was older and in the same fraternity as one of my guy friends from high school, and i was banned from dating any boys from that fraternity. plus, he already had a girlfriend. so i never got to know him beyond the occasional 'hey' at a party, but i admired him from afar, dated a boy in a different fraternity and then one of his college hockey teammates instead, and eventually lost sight of him after he graduated.

fast forward six years later... i see him at an alumni event i am hosting in boston, then a few months later out one night with a bunch of mutual college friends. turns out we both have golden retrievers, both living in the area and are both single... so we go out on a few dates...and then realize that fate handed us second chance at one another after all those years apart.

this past weekend we went back up to our college together for a fraternity event his house was having...and it made my heart race a little to be back there, where i first spotted him, finally dating the guy i had been crushing on all those years ago. funny how that all works out...
