loved listening to Peter Aaron, architectural photographer/ homeowner, talk about his home in the hudson valley in this weekends nytimes. growing up in westchester county, ny i've always had a love affair with that area of new york. i can remember going to the hudson river museum with my grandparents in yonkers when they lived in hastings-on-hudson. and one of the last outings my grandmother and i took together, when they lastly moved to millbrook, ny (before she was diagnosed with alzheimer's disease) was to the rockefeller estate of kykuit. the hudson valley is peppered with amazing architecture and adorable antique shopping...it was always a secret gem of a place to those of us who knew it way back when, until of course, the whole nyc yuppie crowd found out about it...
