another way to procrastinate...

skimming through my daily morning blogs this dreary friday morning i came across this incredible kitchen island on KitchAnn Style. needless to say i was completely mesmerized by the island and had to know all there was to know about how they fabricated it to how they installed it (to how many pennies the homeowners spent on it!!!)...


that's when i noticed the link she had posted for it... the cool hunter. have you heard of this site? umm, not to sound totally cliche, but it is so cool! i'm hooked now.

last night the cutest bundle of joy was delivered into this world by my best friend and i could not be more proud to introduce her. here she is just minutes old with her smiling mommy... (many, many, many more photos to come)...

architect love, mark hutker...

you might remember my parents house in nova scotia... well i'm just dying for them to renovate the main house. they did their first renovations of the guest house and cottage without much help of an architect, but had an incredible general contractor (who has become a personal favorite of our family, norman whynot of kinburn property company) so there wasn't much need with him in charge. however, for the larger house, i want none other than the best new england residential architect, mark hutker to design it. can you tell why from these images of his work?

and maybe for the great room that already has the tall pitched ceilings and fabulous over sized stone fireplace something like this...

false alarm...

i was so surprised to get a phone call from my best friend early this morning telling me that her water broke this morning at 1am and that they were on their to the hospital late this morning. you could totally hear the sheer excitement in her voice that she was finally going to meet her new little girl after all these months...as well as the underlying panic of actually giving birth to her (which would scare the crap out of me too)! i totally thought today was the day i was going to rush over to the hospital and be one of the first in line to hold her sweet smelling, little coo-ing ball of perfection, not to mention learn her name which they've been so wonderful at keeping secret from us all...but alas, it was a false alarm. i know she's disappointed, and even a little bit embarrassed to have went all the way to the hospital, but now we're all on high alert and know exactly how to react when the real thing takes place...so i consider this a "test run" and not a "false alarm"...

aside from the fact that i don't yet own an iPhone...i am absolutely obsessed with this application (which comes out june 1), it's the new benjamin moore color capture from apple... and it's absolutely free!!! take a picture, any picture, and this application will best match it to one of ben moore's 3,300 colors. how amazing is this?

long weekend love...

i'm totally looking forward to this long weekend...and i have almost nothing planned... other than to do a little bit of this (if the weather stays warm enough)....


and of course the boyfriend and i will be doing a whole lot of this...


and i have to find some time inbetween to do a little more of this to put the final touches on my sister's bridal shower gift that's coming up the first weekend in june...
