creative building...

i've been swamped with bidding new projects these past couple of weeks, therefor resulting in my lack of posts. this afternoon i ran a set of drawings up to a custom cabinet maker, who has a workshop within the same building i work in, and noticed a new sign on one of the doors for an eco-friendly yoga mat company. so i knocked, popped my head in, and introduced myself (since i'm somewhat into yoga). the owner was super friendly, had just moved into the building less than 2 months ago, and she showed me some of her wonderful products. i decided to take a little break form work and wondered through the rest of the building some more since i did not know what other interesting tenants i might find....turns out lots! i never knew i worked in such a creative building! i am obviously thrilled about this discovery and wanted to share with you just a few of the talented tenants in my building...

lotus pad (the yoga mat place)
albertine press (custom stationary)
QRST's (a custom t-shirt printing outfit)
fiore di nonna (artisan cheeses)
taza chocolates (organic chocolates)
ann boyajian illustrator of lilla rogers studio (illustrator)
steve marsel studio (photographer)
christopher raia studio (industrial designer)
andrea zatarain (jewelry designer)
x-mix productions (remix & compilation studio)
bluetone studio (rehearsal/ recording studio)
dance zone (dance studio & classes)
studio respiro (architectural design & green consulting)
gilman guidelli general contractors (my company!!!)

let me just give you this disclaimer now in case you decide to try to find this super cool building with it's super cool tenants...561 Windsor Street is a total eye sore; it's located in a pretty industrial section on the somerville/ cambridge line. that being said, the group who owns the building (my 3 bosses included in this group) are working very hard to renovate the building and have made great strides on the interior...the exterior, well, let's just say it leaves a lot to be desired...
