baby on the way (not mine)...

i never thought about babies, or nursery design, until my best friend from high school got preggers...now it's all i can think about. she's going to be the best mom; she works with children all day long and knows WAY more than i ever will about child rearing. she's read all the books, is never late to a doctors appointment, and recently went for a 'birthing class' to get any unanswered questions she and her husband might have had answered. she'll definitely be the person i call when i have questions of my own. getting into the baby spirit myself, i've offered to help her get the nursery ready, as any best friend should do, but more for my own personal challenge of doing my first nursery. she and her husband like dark woods, neutral colors, and not a lot of pink...oh, did i mention they are having a girl? ummm, how can you have 'not a lot of pink' in a little girls room? they already have a hand-me-down crib, which i have offered to sand down and restain a darker color, and have ordered a gliding chair for the room. the walls are a neutral off-white tone as is the carpeting, so it will be relatively easy to add bursts of (pink) color in the bedding, pillows, area rug, window treatments, and other accessories...it might look something like this....
