best kitchen tool ever...
i like to have every kitchen utensil/tool available to man, despite the fact that i'm not the best cook, nor do i do it often enough. during my visit to colorado to see my sister she introduced me to this great little lemon/lime juicer she got off her wedding registry from william sonoma...i have to have it, it gets every last drip of juice out of your fruit, so satisfying...

playing in my head...
i don't particularly love rap music, but i do love this eminem song...more for rihanna's chorus though...
...and i love the lines...
...and i love the lines...
maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems
maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano
all I know is I love you too much to walk away though

playing in my head...
"We'll be washed and buried one day my girl
And the time we were given will be left for the world
The flesh that lived and loved will be eaten by plague
So let the memories be good for those who stay"
"Oh the shame that sent me off from the God that I once loved
Was the same that sent me into your arms
Oh and pestilence is won when you are lost and I am gone
And no hope, no hope will overcome"
And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"
But my heart told my head
"This time no
This time no"
And the time we were given will be left for the world
The flesh that lived and loved will be eaten by plague
So let the memories be good for those who stay"
"Oh the shame that sent me off from the God that I once loved
Was the same that sent me into your arms
Oh and pestilence is won when you are lost and I am gone
And no hope, no hope will overcome"
And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"
But my heart told my head
"This time no
This time no"

penny and petey are pals...
my boss's dog, petey, stayed with us for the weekend while he and his family took a vacation, sans pets. i have been warned by stories that petey is a professional escape artist, leaping out of second story window screens to roam the town, sometimes coming back with battle wounds even. to his credit, he is a puerto rican rescue mutt, so it's in his DNA to vagabond around. i'll admit, i was nervous at first, losing your dogs boss does not bode well for career advancement. but petey was great, and penny might have had a small crush on him, as you'll see she moved all of her toys from her basket to HIS bed...
petey liked to stand on his hind legs at the window and scope out the scene on the street down below...which at first made me a little nervous, i thought he might be planning is escape route...
and then i saw this little bonehead trying out his moves...
we had a very good time with petey, no escapes, and are looking forward to watching him a couple of more times while his owners are out of town...he's one house guest that's always welcome!
ps- i took them to the beach this morning to swim, and petey sat shotgun with me, it was awesome!

buy this rug, now...
this jute boucle rug from west elm is the best purchase i have ever made, i kid you not. the 8x10 is on sale again for $199 only. i went to the store before i made this purchase to ensure that it wasn't stiff or rough under my feet, since natural fiber rugs can be quite harsh, and it passed the test. it is soft for my dog to lie on, cleans SUPER easy, incredibly durable, show's no dirt (especially in the flax color, which i have, seen below). i'm thinking about getting the platinum one for my new gray bedroom. you will not be disappointed, i promise...

pottery barn vignettes...
i know it's like against the rules to like anything crate & barrel or pottery barn as an interior designer. it's for the 'masses', everyone has it or can get it, there's nothing unique about it, blah, blah, blah...i get it, i get it. but seriously, unless you have butt-loads of money, how are you supposed to furnish your house with relative nice/affordable/stylish furniture? not everyone, including myself, can afford the 'designer' stuff, unless it's on MEGA sale.
i really love the vignettes pottery barn has in their august 2010 catalogue, a lot. like, i want to move into each of these rooms tomorrow...
ps- how does one become a pottery barn catalogue room designer? i think i would like to be one in my next life.

concert night with my girlies...
saturday afternoon my girlfriends and i loaded up the car with beers and snacks, and a cowgirl hat or two and headed to the comcast center for country-fest. we were all fired up to see lady antebellum and country boy tim mcgraw...
we had lawn seats, and it was packed, but it was the PERFECT summer night to watch a concert on the lawn; feet in the grass, cold beer in hand, under the moon & stars, listening to good music, hanging out with (other rednecks) my girlfriends....
and it was all worth it once this hunk in a white t-shirt and bluejeans started to sing. he is a great performer, very heartfelt, even if you don't like country music you can't help but like him. i was hoping faith hill would make a guest appearance with him, but no such luck. i think in my next life i'd like to come back as faith hill being married to tim mcgraw...
here's someone's bootleg video from the concert saturday night, obviously she had better seats than us...
