megan & ryan for the rest of their lives...

umm, can you just look at this pretty face for one second? how beautiful is she? like the most incredible looking bride you've ever seen, right?

 hws girls
i just got back from the wedding of one of my bestest friends... and it was epic. yes, the setting was gorgeous. yes, the food & drink were delicious (and abundant). and yes, the band rocked it. but what made the wedding one of the best weddings i've ever been to is the bride & groom and the people who love them. i have never been to a wedding where every single person there was one of the kindest, funniest, most sincere persons i'd ever met...and that is a testament to megan & ryan. as cliche as this is to say, you could feel the love. i wish we could do it again, like, right now!

megan & ryan... thank you for including me in your beautiful day. i could not be more excited for you as you begin the rest of your life as husband and wife...

351...

the other morning on the news i saw something that i thought was so cool (cool in a dorky kind of way of course)...a story about a young massachusetts couple who traveled to all 351 towns in massachusetts! they have a website of their story and all their photos of their massachusetts 351 project. its a wonderful way to get to know your state, each unique little town...and it's a great idea for a 'staycation', don't you think? i kind of want to do it now too, who's in?

here they are in my little town...

today...

today is the day that my whole life was supposed to change. i've tried not to think about it, to push it out of my mind, to forget about it...but i can't. it's here, it's in front of me...today was the day, it will always be the day that was supposed to be.

i'd like to tell you it's all i think about, but it's not, not anymore. every day that has passed has made the disappointment, the loss, the emptiness, the hurt, the anger a little easier to swallow. my heart is not completely healed, but the hole has filled just enough to make it bearable.

my life has changed now, even if it wasn't for today.

quotable...

saw this sign at a store in roswell, i'm sort of sad i didn't buy it, but i think i might try to make one of my own...it's a good little sign...

drew & elizabeth tied the knot, literally...

i just got home from a great weekend in atlanta. the main reason for the trip was to attend a family friends wedding but before the big event i got to catch up with my old friend from college who now works at cnn. i got to get a personal behind-the-scenes tour, holy cow, i cannot even tell you how impressed i am with his job and where he works. like, he's so legit at cnn it isn't even funny, i am so proud of him. oh, and he's dating a very attractive and VERY cool young newswoman (hint hine, she's on ccn from 2-4 monday-friday)...which elevated his coolness status in my book even more...

but back to the main event. drew and i have been friends literally since he was born, his mom and my mom have been friends since grades school and his parents are like my aunt & uncle (in fact, there was a point when i was little i thought they actually were my aunt & uncle). drew proposed in a very cool way last year, and elizabeth is an incredibly creative young woman herself, so i knew there would be no shortage of beauty and fun at this wedding. they chose kimball hall in historic roswell, georgia to get married. it was the perfect day and the perfect venue for this sweet couple...

there were a lot of wonderful little touches to their wedding... like their tying of the knot during the ceremony...

this great wedding party sign (that i believe elizabeth made herself...

their gorgeous (and delicious) cake...

and incredibly coordinated table settings & decor...

and of course, really wonderful people. not only is drew's family & their friends a good time, but i got to meet a lot of his and elizabeth's friends from atlanta (shout out to table 2!) and we had an awesome time dancing let me just say...

congratulations to drew & elizabeth...and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day! xoxo

little art with lots of happiness...

how many times can i say I LOVE ETSY?!?!?! not enough, that's for sure.  my dream (besides moving to a farm in vermont and rehabilitating rescue dogs) is to have a large farmhouse with lots of light and lots of wall space to fill with all the art i love...of course, after i win the lottery so i can actually afford all the art i love. but etsy is my gateway to beautiful art that makes me happy...i buy what i love. and recently i fell in love with these little 4x4 and 5x5 paintings on gessobord from two talented artists, angela moulton of pratt creek art and cynthia haase of cynthia haase fine art. aren't they adorable? and affordable! i can't remember which of the artist recommended a certain frame making company on etsy, but i was in contact with harmony from rustic and refined design to make four custom order frames to fit these little lovelies and they did a wonderful job, don't you think?

love, love, love...thank you to all the artists for creating these little masterpieces which bring me so much joy!

kids costumes...

i know halloween is more than a month away, but i'm super excited for it this year. not because i will be attending any halloween parties per se, but because this will be the first year spent in my very own home, in a neighborhood FULL of little kids...kids that will be dressing up and knocking on my door, blurting out 'trick-or-treat' and wanting me to give them candy. i cannot tell you how excited i am to see the costumes! i'd love to take pictures, but i'm sure parents would not be cool with that, and i don't really want to be labeled as a creeper my first year in the neighborhood. a lovely lark posted some wonderful diy childrens costumes on her blog, here are a few of my favorites...

a fall sunday...

i feel like i haven't spent a weekend at home, with nothing to do, in a very long time. so i took advantage of this beautiful morning & afternoon by first working on some fall planters outside the house...

and then doing a little fall decorating inside the house...

and now we're lounging on the couch watching a little football... i love sundays in fall...
