quotable...

saw this sign at a store in roswell, i'm sort of sad i didn't buy it, but i think i might try to make one of my own...it's a good little sign...

drew & elizabeth tied the knot, literally...

i just got home from a great weekend in atlanta. the main reason for the trip was to attend a family friends wedding but before the big event i got to catch up with my old friend from college who now works at cnn. i got to get a personal behind-the-scenes tour, holy cow, i cannot even tell you how impressed i am with his job and where he works. like, he's so legit at cnn it isn't even funny, i am so proud of him. oh, and he's dating a very attractive and VERY cool young newswoman (hint hine, she's on ccn from 2-4 monday-friday)...which elevated his coolness status in my book even more...

but back to the main event. drew and i have been friends literally since he was born, his mom and my mom have been friends since grades school and his parents are like my aunt & uncle (in fact, there was a point when i was little i thought they actually were my aunt & uncle). drew proposed in a very cool way last year, and elizabeth is an incredibly creative young woman herself, so i knew there would be no shortage of beauty and fun at this wedding. they chose kimball hall in historic roswell, georgia to get married. it was the perfect day and the perfect venue for this sweet couple...

there were a lot of wonderful little touches to their wedding... like their tying of the knot during the ceremony...

this great wedding party sign (that i believe elizabeth made herself...

their gorgeous (and delicious) cake...

and incredibly coordinated table settings & decor...

and of course, really wonderful people. not only is drew's family & their friends a good time, but i got to meet a lot of his and elizabeth's friends from atlanta (shout out to table 2!) and we had an awesome time dancing let me just say...

congratulations to drew & elizabeth...and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day! xoxo

little art with lots of happiness...

how many times can i say I LOVE ETSY?!?!?! not enough, that's for sure.  my dream (besides moving to a farm in vermont and rehabilitating rescue dogs) is to have a large farmhouse with lots of light and lots of wall space to fill with all the art i love...of course, after i win the lottery so i can actually afford all the art i love. but etsy is my gateway to beautiful art that makes me happy...i buy what i love. and recently i fell in love with these little 4x4 and 5x5 paintings on gessobord from two talented artists, angela moulton of pratt creek art and cynthia haase of cynthia haase fine art. aren't they adorable? and affordable! i can't remember which of the artist recommended a certain frame making company on etsy, but i was in contact with harmony from rustic and refined design to make four custom order frames to fit these little lovelies and they did a wonderful job, don't you think?

love, love, love...thank you to all the artists for creating these little masterpieces which bring me so much joy!

kids costumes...

i know halloween is more than a month away, but i'm super excited for it this year. not because i will be attending any halloween parties per se, but because this will be the first year spent in my very own home, in a neighborhood FULL of little kids...kids that will be dressing up and knocking on my door, blurting out 'trick-or-treat' and wanting me to give them candy. i cannot tell you how excited i am to see the costumes! i'd love to take pictures, but i'm sure parents would not be cool with that, and i don't really want to be labeled as a creeper my first year in the neighborhood. a lovely lark posted some wonderful diy childrens costumes on her blog, here are a few of my favorites...

a fall sunday...

i feel like i haven't spent a weekend at home, with nothing to do, in a very long time. so i took advantage of this beautiful morning & afternoon by first working on some fall planters outside the house...

and then doing a little fall decorating inside the house...

and now we're lounging on the couch watching a little football... i love sundays in fall...

11 years ago today...

11 years ago today was also a tuesday and it was as crisp, blue skied and beautiful as it is today...eiriling similar kind of day. i've told my story before and we still remember our friend scott, but my heart will never be settled on september 11th, ever. i still feel like a senior in college waking up on a day that would forever change my family's life and the life of our nation...

tasha's bachelorette weekend...

i just returned home from one of the nicest weekends celebrating my sweet friends bachelorette, tasha. we were so fortunate and grateful for her friend sarah, who not only let us stay at her family's beautiful house for the weekend, but also cooked us the most delectable dinners each night. no joke, there wasn't a morsel of food left on anyones plates. if i ever get adventurous enough i might just try the zuni cafe roasted chicken with bread salad sarah made...she has inspired me to try more cooking after this weekend for sure... (side note: once upon a time sarah had a blog about cooking with her children, i think we may have convinced her to start it back up, if so i'll link to it)...

how wonderful are these gift bags she had made for the girls too? filled with mini champagne bottles, french soap, candy, tasha's favorite mascara and other goodies...

it was a great, small group of girls and we had a lot of fun at the mount washington resort spa one day sipping on champagne & bloody marys AND where i got my first ever facial! i'm a convert, i will definitely be getting another one in my near future. great photo huh? this was nora's idea, i'm so glad she suggested it (even if it was a little weird being in bathrobes outside the hotel for all the guests to see)...

i am also now thoroughly addicted to games after this weekend. board games you ask? yes. we played ingenious, which i'd never heard of before this weekend but now crave playing and 'shut the box'- i NEED this game btw. we also had an intense game of charades going one night too...we were a competitive group to say the least...

all in all it was a beautiful weekend for a beautiful friend. it's always nice to get to spend time & bond with the other important girls in the brides life before the big day...can't wait to see these gals again at the end of october! congratulations tasha, xoxo!
