i've seen this book floating around on other people's blogs and it was listed as a good beach read in one of my magazines, so i decided to give it a go. i'm about 3/4 of the way done with it, the only reason i haven't finished it is because i've fallen asleep twice in the middle of it...not out of boredom, out of sheer tiredness...

so far i really like it, i like reading 'both sides', as told by husband and wife. however, the infidelity and demise of the marriage makes my stomach turn. a friend commented on another book i read recently about how all these books have so much deceit and dishonesty in relationships as a central theme...she's right. it literally scares the shit out of me- that type of behavior and how easily it comes to some and how easily they can lie about it.


on a side note, i may chose this for my book group in september, i think it might spark some good conversations.

i'm thinking i need a new fall hair cut coming up...maybe towards the end of october...am i the only person who thinks that far in advance about her hair? probably. i really like these medium length cuts, i think they might look spiffy on me too... thoughts?...

summer sling...

i don't know about you, but we grew up with the classic, old school aluminum 'low boy' beach chairs...you know, they ones that sit real low to the ground and never really reclined as much as you'd like them to and aren't super comfortable until completely broken in. my sister's in-laws have about 30 of those bad boys at their nantucket home, they're at least 20 years old...

then i saw these awesome sling-back beach chairs on grey likes nesting...these are the wave of the future in beach seating my dears... or at least in terms of back yard napping... although, probably not as light & portable as our old school low boys, and certainly more pricey (even $99 on sale?!?!)...

the other night my friends told me about a youtube video of this dude in russia who narrowly escaped death by a bus/truck accident...he is for sure the luckiest dude alive...

do you think he pooped his pants? just a little? i would have.

prayer needed...

my best friends dad was in a very serious work accident on monday...my heart aches being so far away from him and his mom (and sister) while they wait to learn the extent of his injuries and the outcome. please, please, please...take 2 seconds out of your day to say this little prayer for him...

Thank you, Lord, for hearing this prayer and helping him as he faces this injury. I trust in you and submit to your will, and I know that you will never forsake. Please give him the strength and discipline to persevere through his treatment and recovery, and the wisdom to participate constructively in his own treatment. Please guide the doctors in their care for him, and please bless his friends and family as they support him through this challenge.

catalogue cruizin'...

i try not to look at catalogue's too often, they make me depressed, similar to how 'window shopping' makes me feel. it's like a big tease, not fun at all. but last night i got into bed and hauled the catalogue's that arrived in the mail that day into bed with me...and earmarked a bazillion things i'll likely never own but would make my heart squeal with delight...


like the laundry butler, how have i been living without this contraption for so long?...

i FINALLY find THE rug for the living room, and it's on clearance...and the size & color i want is sold out. story of my life...
