oh dear lord, give me patience...

good thing my dog is cute, otherwise i'd be shipping her off to reformatory school today. i knew it was going to be bad when after lunch one of the guys we share shop space with came into our offices and said, "blair, don't cry, but penny rolled around in something"...

yup, she decided to roll around in car grease from the junk yard next door. we immediately left work and she's currently at petco for an emergency grooming appointment...still to be determined if it'll need to be shaved or not.

kill. me. now.

H2O everywhere...

apparently this was the scene outside my office building over the weekend after the flash floods we had...look at the wave crashing against the building, you'd think we were actually near a body of water or something...

adventures with brisby...

the trip out to colorado was totally worth it just to meet this little guy...

he is a very well trained dog too thanks to my brother-in-law...

on saturday we headed up to
mount evans for a look around. brisby is a front seat dog, thank goodness he's still small enough to fit up there, but not for long...

on saturday night we ate at this great restaurant, solera. do not judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a restaurant by it's outside appearance. this place was incredible, especially the outdoor dining. i highly recommend it if you make it out to denver...

my sister & bro-in-law live across the street from a great park too, cheesman park, so one day we just chilled out in the park, drinking beers, chewing on sticks, and wrestling with grandma...

sunday we went to the local farmer's market to pick up ingredients for dinner that night (salad, gazpacho and a wonderful shrimp, basil & spinach risotto) and then took a ride into boulder to meet up with some friends to check out their new house & have lunch. it was a nice way to relax on our last night. i'll miss my little furry nephew...oh and my sister and brother-in-law.

how can you not love a dog who chews on ice like this...

i'll be home tomorrow night. it's my last night to snuggle with my love-bug-fur-nephew...lots of pictures of him to show you all when i return, he is amazing, the perfect dog for my sister & bro-in-law for sure...

puppy pool...

my sister sent this video to me today. if we had a pool i could totally see penny doing this over & over & over again...

best. card. ever...

if i got this card from the boyfriend, anything he'd ever done wrong in his entire life would be wiped to a clean slate as far as i'm concerned...

check out jack cards, they've got some great ones.

a 'shoes off' kind of place...

"what we do for a living as designers and architects, we did here for ourselves. we have this adage that you have to build a body before you can put clothes on it- the house has to function first before you can decorate it.' -christopher drake

i'll be the first to admit that nantucket can get a little snobby with all those large estates that people only use 3 months out of the year, ostentatious yachts coming in & out of the harbor and disgusting amounts of lily pulitzer & nantucket reds. but not lee bierly & chrisopher drake, of bierly-drake associates, 40'x40' coastal home, it's the perfect size. new england home magazine has a feature on their nantucket home in the july/august 2010 issue, read about it HERE. i am a huge fan on their understanding of having to make the house work spatially & with the right light before you can really fix the cosmetics of it. this house is so freakin' adorable, i wish i could pick it up and transplant it to winthrop...oh, and i think my girls would like their golden retriever too, speedo...

color me happy...

i have always loved restaurants that either give you place mats to color or have a big white paper table cloths & crayons to let your imagination run loose on...or in my case, and not too distant past, had a 10 year old beat me at tic-tac-toe on said table cloth. eating out can get expensive though, so these place mat coloring pads from bob's your uncle shop are perfect for home. check out their website, great gift items on there...

lofty success on apt therapy...

did ya'll see apartment therapy today? julie rose was one of my adjunct lighting professors in graduate school and her boston loft was featured on apartment therapy's blog today...very cool...

waCk logo...

i'm working on a new t-shirt logo design for winthrop...it's actually just for our friends who like to call winthrop the 'waCk'...still in the design phase...

sail away...

how was your 4th? mine was lovely, spent it in the small town of winthrop for the 3rd summer in a row, and loved every second of it. i've been inspired by this little sea-side town and apparently coastal living & elle decor are feeling similarly... (sorry for the crappy scan job i did today on these features)... from coastal living...

from elle decor...

which all sort of randomly reminds me of when i used to wear rope bracelets (actually, i wore one three summers ago until it started to seriously stink!). i think i got mine at the sunken ship out in nantucket when i was out there visiting my sister & bro-in-law a few summers ago...

on another totally random note, my mom & stepdad took the ferry over to provincetown on saturday and at my advice checked out the packard gallery, gallery to one of my favorite painters, anne packard (and her 2 daughters). i was hoping they'd buy me a painting for being such an awesome daughter, then they told me the price tag for some of her paintings...umm yeah, not so cheap...
