the dogs and i left bright & early this morning for our 11 hour drive to nova scotia. the boyfriend will be joining us on thursday when we pick him up from the airport. the ride wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, except for the part where i forgot to inform my credit card company i was crossing the border into canada and they denied my charge for gas (which i'd already pumped)...got it straightened out, but felt like a mild asshole.
i tried to make the girls as comfortable as possible for the long haul, here are a few shots from our road trip today... they started off all cozy and ready to hit the road...
...and then passed out for a few hours...
...and then maple decided that she needed to be my co-pilot...
forecast says the hurricane is supposed to have a quick hit here on friday...but we all know how reliable the weather forecast is so i won't hold my breath.
while at bouckville antique show a few weekends ago i was on the hunt for a vintage crate and found this one (i loved the boston reference since i do live in boston)...
and want to create something like this, with a little help from the carpenters in my office...
unrepairable...things which cannot be fixed or repaired. at what point are things unrepairable? unrepairable and irreplaceable seem to go hand in hand, don't you think?
...the dogs will play.today there are more canines in the office than humans, and i love it. i can't believe we managed to get them all in one shot and looking at the camera. from left to right: stella, penny, and petey...
sorry i've been m.i.a...been doing a few things, had a lot on my mind, and am getting ready for vacation next week to nova scotia with the boyfriend, dogs and family!
finally got around to looking at a few of the magazines stacked next to my bed and was stopped in my tracks by this handsome fellow in my elle decor...
and i'm thinking for fall that i might want to switch up my bedding for his tripoli bed collection, it would look 'smashing' with my dark grey walls...
seriously, his passion for travel and textiles and markets makes me even more desperate to go to morocco...someday.
sorry for the lack of posts. i went to the emergency room on sunday night with serious eye pain only to find out i have conjunctivitis in my left eye (but not the gross kind where you get all that goop in your eye lashes). i'm not supposed to wear my contacts for an entire week, but last night i did this to my glasses...
i had a seriously crappy day at work today...so i went to the copley square farmers market after work and bought myself these to cheer me up...and they're working...
in a few weeks we'll be spending labor day weekend (actually, a full week for me & the dogs) here at my parents house in nova scotia with the whole family for a little r&r...
photos are courtesy of my cousin jill who is there now with her family...jealous.
last night i sat in bed reading my august/september issue of garden & gun magazine and read this wonderful expose by allison glock, 'sadie, the white devil: the craziest dogs are the ones you never forget'. i'm naturally a sucker for anything having to do with dogs, but this story made my heart melt...
and my favorite quote from the story, which can be related to any part of our life...
i was warned by the friend who lent me this book that i would have a hard time putting it down, and she was right, i read half the book in about 2 hours. i plan on finishing it tonight in bed...
her new favorite toy is the rat from target. it freaks me out how affectionate she is with this disgusting, life-like toy. all her other toys she destroys within minutes of receiving, but not this one. nope, he's still got his squeaker and all his fur and she carries him around delicately. should i be worried???...
been thinking about the times spent camping & boating with my grandparents & aunts & uncles on lake george when we were little...longing for those days again...
here is only a small snippet, vignette if you will, of crap that i have on my desk at work (click on image to make it larger)...pretty random right???....
